The Single Island

Ilha Solteira (a.k.a. Single Island) is a small municipality in the country side of the state of São Paulo. The population is around of 25,168 inhabitants, the area is 661.34 km² and the elevation is 335 m. It´s considered Turistic because fallow some laws of the Government.

The city was founded in October, 1968 to abrigate the workers of the hydroeletric of Ilha Solteira, one of the most importants in the country (the 3rd in size). Those are some views of the hydroeletric.
To build this, around 1200km² were devasteded around the Paraná River. Some of the animals survived, captured and sent to some kind of zoo (Ecological Reserve) where most of them can hang around freelly. Public is allowed in weekends and just in a small parto of the zoo. The picture shows a very small piece of the zoo, it has around 18hm. There are 48 species and the zoo-reserve is one of the best in animal well-fare and is very famous among specialists.
The wheather is tropical and usually very hot and sunny every day. The sunsets are amazing every part of the city, including the little beach.

There is a lot of nature and wild life, a very nice place to live, very calm and with one of the best HDI (0,85) in the state.
